We hear it all the time when mentioning artificial turf to customers that they love natural lawns and it’s pretty hard to argue that, it’s not for everyone. Mother Nature is a beautiful thing and a well taken care of lawn is beautiful. Artificial turf is for clients who like to enjoy their landscaped yard with their family and friends without all the workof watering, fertilizing, mowing, and trimming. In some cases, people with allergies choose artificial turf so they can still enjoy the look of a Lush Lawn. The first thing we would discuss when looking at Turf jobs is the type of application varying from small green areas to soften your hardscapes all the way up to large yards the playground areas for children and pets.
Typically installs would include excavation of the grounds and haul away of material. Our most popular installs are on a dense compacted roadcrush base of 4 to 6 inches over top of a geotextile. Some installs are on whats called an open-graded base which is a ¾ inch clean crushed stone. This allows for a better drainage system in lower-lying areas with no significant grade, Or for areas like a dog run to help keep the scent down with better use of draining unwanted smells by washing into the ground compared to the traditional base.

Each supplier also has many different varieties including pile height, shades of grass, and style of blades which is everything when you are installing a long-lasting Turf that will withstand traffic and are harsh temperature differences in our area.
The old way of installing artificial turf is to use silica sand. With that in mind, we don’t recommend silica sand because of all the health problems. Most installs use zeofill which allows pet urine to be washed and absorbed and also good infill with children in mind. Infills are swept in to increase drainage and also keeps the blades of grass standing and the weight and cushion for your turf.
